Our story

Lumiere was born to meet the need for anatomically designed bridles that provide the level of comfort a horse deserves, at a price everyday riders could afford. We believed that it shouldn’t cost upward of $500 to buy a bridle that is designed with the latest in anatomic features; monocrown gel-padded headpieces, gel padded nosebands and strap design that avoids the sensitive nerve areas on a horse’s face. This means that all of our bridles feature gel-padded monocrown headpieces that are cut away from the ears, and evenly distribute pressure across the poll.

We set about to create a range of bridles that put comfort and quality first, while also being fashion-forward. We needed our styles to be within reach of the majority of horse owners, not just the elite who could afford the top European brands.

Bridle and breastplate fit are all just as important as a correctly fitting saddle. We owe it to our equine partners to ensure they are in comfortable, well-fitting tack.

Over the coming years, the Lumiere range developed rapidly. Buoyed by such positive feedback and loyal customers, we expanded the range to cater to a broad range of disciplines while also adding breastplate, stirrup leather and bridle part lines. Listening to our customers has always been central to the design process, and our range has evolved in line with the voice of riders who use our products.

With an eye on the wellbeing of horses, the Equine Eye camera brand was soon launched within the Lumiere stable. The transportation of horses is a safety concern for many owners, and Equine Eye soon became the top selling product for Lumiere Equestrian. In recent years, Equine Eye has grown to become a global leader in equine and farm surveillance with the release of an off-grid camera for paddock, stable and trailer use that is used by breeders, trainers and pleasure horse owners across the world.

The Lumiere leather lines continue to grow, with ongoing design innovation. The company has recently grown a line of premium dressage bridles and launches a new collection of core products at least once a year.

We are famous for butter soft leather products with quality that speaks for itself. Our products are designed with the horse’s comfort at the forefront. Each Lumiere product has been handcrafted to stand the test of time.

Lumiere means 'light'. To us, this light has a double meaning. Lightness in the bridle should be the goal of every equestrian and a comfortable well-fitting bridle is essential to achieving a level of lightness and harmony.
